Restaurant Sales Analysis
The Challenge
This company wanted to better understand its sales performance. Particularly during special events or certain days. They wanted more information than the standard reporting from their cash register was able to provide.
The Solution
Using PowerBI we transformed the exported XML file from their cash
register system and created a dashboard with all the key metrics as well as a
dedicated report for the special events date. The dedicated report could
compare each special event against each other in terms of sales performance,
which products sold best at each event, the time the orders came to the
kitchen, basket analysis, etc.
The Result
The dedicated dashboard and reporting provided many interesting insights that were used to improve operational processes. For example, the data influenced the number of staff used for the events and provided a more accurate shift time for the staff. Furthermore, the data influenced the menu and pricing of certain products.
